Self Drive
Enjoy a boat trip across Lake Waikaremoana to walk on the Great Lake
Walk and return by boat later in the day. Visit waterfalls and Park
Headquarters. If the weather is rough, walk to Lake Waikareiti and
hire a boat to view this pristine lake. Return to the Marae for a
Powhiri (Maori Welcome), spend time with local Maori and stay the
night in the Marae. Food - lunch, dinner & breakfast
Start 10 am and finish 9 or 10 am the following day.

for Mahia Peninsula Day one - drive to Morere Hot
Mineral Springs for a walk amongst Nikau palms, a thermal swim and
picnic lunch.
Drive on to the remote Mahia Peninsula - activities include sightseeing,
swimming at the lovely beaches, pipping and coastal walking. There
is excellent sea fishing by boat. Visit interesting artists and locals.
Mahia Peninsula was originally an island and it has retained
that relaxed island atmosphere with a wild remoteness and beauty and
great people. Day two - enjoy the many activities
on the Peninsula. Sea Fishing by boat is a great alternative.

one - depart Napier for Lake Waikaremoana. Experience a Powhiri
(welcome) into this mystical area, on to a Marae with the Tuhoe Tribe.
Guided by a local from the Tuhoe Tribe walk through superb bush to
Lake Waikareiti, this is a remote and ecologically special area. There
are row boats available on this Lake. Day two - enjoy
a guided full day on and around Lake Waikaremoana. Boat across the
Lake and walk on the Great Lake Walk. Return by boat later in the
day. Day three - Visit the Park Headquarters Museum
and local waterfalls and walks. Accommodation: Marae
