Long Island Tours visit special places in Hawkes Bay, New Zealand

:: WELCOME

Whether planning to vacation in New Zealand or live in NZ and are looking for a holiday destination we offer private guided tours around Hawke's Bay. Our customized tours let you experience many activities particularly our wine and food with wine specialists and local maori culture and art, firsthand from the kaumatua themselves.

Our private guided tours take you deep into our Hawke’s Bay countryside and culture to visit special people and places – mostly accessing areas and people exclusive to Long Island Tours. It is rich in history. A history that can still be told by the wonderful characters who live here both Maori and European.

Come meet these characters of Hawke's Bay and have a wonderful day unlike any other.

  • Time - most tours can run from 2 hours to several days.
  • Numbers - we organise tours for most group sizes.
  • Tours - We have three daily scheduled tours leaving from Napier. We also have private tours especially created for customers based on their specific interests. You will find tour combinations under Tours, defined to make booking easier. Mix and match activities with a delicious picnic lunch beside a river, remote beach or lakeside. Alternatively a winery restaurant or café.
  • Activities based: all of Hawke's Bay including Central & Northern (Te Urewera National Park, Lake Waikaremoana and Mahia Peninsula).

Orine - Maori guidePrice - Indicative cost NZD $125 per hour.

Journey by horseback, kayak, boat or on foot across farmland, along beaches, down rivers or in the native bush. Spend a day fly-fishing on private farmland, exploring primeval bush or listening to local Maori (kaumatua) quietly tell you of the history, culture and the experiences of his family and his land. Visit modern and traditional artists to understand their lives, materials and philosophies.

Our philosophy is to deliver a top quality interactive experience, distinctively different in that it challenges ideas and allows an unusual free exchange of ideas coupled with highly enjoyable activites and intuitive and responsive guiding.
